Broiled Romaine With Lemon Cream & Hazelnuts

Romaine lettuce, it’s your time to shine.

Broiled romaine gets a slight smoky char flavor, which gives ordinary, bland lettuce some needed gusto. This simple salad contrasts with the crunchy crispness of the lettuce and the nutty flavor of the hazelnuts & it pairs perfectly with the tangy and creamy lemondressing.

A delicious and unique recipe that comes together in about 10 minutes.

Not gonna lie, I’ve never really been a huge fan of traditional Caesar salads. I dig the general idea (the combo of romaine lettuce, creamy dressing, and salty croutons is foolproof), but they always have too much dressing, and the soggy crouton situation makes me want to cry. Sorry.

With those thoughts in mind, I ditched the croutons and added some chopped hazelnuts, and crisped up the lettuce, before lightly dressing everything in a simple, dijon-spiked lemon cream. It’s Caesar salad on steroids, and it is a beautiful thing.

Have you tried broiled lettuce? You really should.
