Spicy Maple Almonds
All aboard the luxury almond train, friends. You’re gonna love it.
It is getting real close to that time of year when you are pretty much guaranteed to be invited to someone’s house. Whether for a dinner party, brunch or just casual drinks with friends, you’re probably going to need to bring some food somewhere. These almonds are so good, they are sure to make you a very popular holiday guest.
Sticky, sweet, a little spicy, salty and smoky.
When it comes to serving your spicy maple almonds, there are endless possibilities! You can chop them and place on green salads, grain salads or even on your morning oatmeal. I’ll be honest, I’m partial to just having a few as a quick snack.
Did I mention they are super easy to make? Let’s get to it!
Spicy Maple Almonds
2 cups raw almonds
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 cup real maple syrup
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more depending on how spicy you like them)
Sea salt to taste (I used Hickory Smoked Sea Salt from the Maine Sea Salt Co. — yum!)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread the almonds on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 5 minutes.
While the almonds are baking, whisk together the olive oil, maple syrup, and cayenne in a large bowl.
Transfer the almonds to the bowl and toss to coat. Line the baking sheet with parchment and pour the almonds onto the parchment. Using a spatula, spread the almonds out in a single layer, sprinkle with salt and return them to the oven.
Bake the almonds for 15-18 minutes or until they turn a deep reddish brown. Allow the almonds to come to room temperature on a baking sheet and store in an airtight container until ready to serve.
